Kalamazoo City Commission Delays Return to In-Person Meetings Again, for the Last Time

During last night's regular, 100% virtual, business meeting, the Kalamazoo City Commission delayed an expected repeal of the local emergency declaration that has been in place since March 15, 2021.  They now plan to repeal it at their next regular, 100% virtual, business meeting on Monday, December 20.  This means they won't resume in-person meetings until Monday, January 3, 2022.  The repeal of the local emergency declaration is irrelevant at this point, because Michigan law doesn't permit them to continue meeting 100% virtually or hybrid beyond December 31, 2021.  By the time they meet on January 3, it will have been 658 days since they held a public meeting in person.
